STEAM Society is proud to endorse ArtStart, an event for students looking to pursue a degree and or career in the arts!

Where: UTC Fine Arts Center
752 Vine St.

When: November 5th

Why: Students who want to further their arts education, or career don’t always know how to go about doing that, so Regenerate and UTC created an event to help students with this process.

What:  ArtStart is a workshop for high school students pursuing a career or a college major in the arts. The morning will include a panel of UTC professors and community artists who do a great job of explaining how arts programs work, and what it is like to have a career in the arts. The Q&A panel usually has representatives from the visual arts, technical theater, theater, dance, film and music.

The second portion of the workshop is focused on auditions and portfolios. Students divide by discipline to get specific advice on auditions, portfolios, monologues, etc. The professionals from the panel will lead these sessions and offer individual advice to students.

Students are encouraged to bring audition pieces, portfolios, etc. and lots of questions!

This is a really valuable experience and completely free of charge, open to anyone in high school, but the second half especially is designed for upperclassmen.
